The effects of Panax ginseng, zearalenol and estradiol on sperm function

Estrogen signaling pathways are modulated by exogenous factors. Panax ginseng exerts multiple activities in biological systems and is classified as an adaptogen. Zearalenol is a potent mycoestrogen that may be present in herbs and crops arising from contamination or endophytic association. The goal of this study was to investigate the impact of Panax ginseng, zearalenol and estradiol in tests on spermatozoal function.

Anti-hypertensive effect of Korean Red Ginseng by enrichment of ginsenoside Rg3 and arginine-fructose

Ginsenoside Rg3 and arginine-fructose (Arg-Fru) are known as the hypotensive compounds of Panax ginseng, however, their efficacy on antihypertension has not been reported yet to our best knowledge. Thus, hypotensive components-enriched fraction of red ginseng (HCEF-RG) was prepared from fine root concentrate (FR) and their antihypertensive effects were investigated in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR).

Water-soluble ginseng oligosaccharides protect against scopolamine-induced cognitive impairment by functioning as an anti-neuroinflammatory agent

Panax ginseng roots have been used in Oriental traditional medicine for human health. Its main active components, such as saponins and polysaccharides, have been widely evaluated for treatment of diseases, but the secondary active components, such as oligosaccharides, were rarely studied. This study aimed to assess the impact of water-soluble ginseng oligosaccharides (WGOS), which are isolated from warm-water extract of Panax ginseng roots and its components were confirmed, on scopolamine-induced cognitive impairment in mice and its anti-neuroinflammatory mechanisms.

Role of microRNA-520h in 20(R)-ginsenoside-Rg3-mediated angiosuppression

Ginsenoside-Rg3, the pharmacologically active component of red ginseng, has been found to inhibit tumor growth, invasion, metastasis, and angiogenesis in various cancer models. Previously, we found that 20(R)-ginsenoside-Rg3 (Rg3) could inhibit angiogenesis. Since microRNAs (miRNAs) have been shown to affect many biological processes, they might play an important role in ginsenoside-mediated angiomodulation. In this study, we examined the underlying mechanisms of Rg3-induced angiosuppression through modulating miRNA expression.

Variation in the number of nucleoli and incomplete homogenization of 18S rDNA sequences in leaves cells of the cultivated oriental ginseng, C.A. Meyer

Wild ginseng Panax ginseng Meyer is an endangered species of medicinal plants. In the present study, we analyzed variations within the rDNA cluster to gain insight into the genetic diversity of the oriental ginseng Panax ginseng at artificial plant cultivation.
