AKT-targeted anti-inflammatory activity of calyx ethanolic extract

Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng) plays an anti-inflammatory role in variety of inflammatory diseases such as gastritis, hepatitis, and colitis. However, inflammation-regulatory activity of the calyx of the P. ginseng berry has not been thoroughly evaluated. To understand whether the calyx portion of the P. ginseng berry is able to ameliorate inflammatory processes, an ethanolic extract of P. ginseng berry calyx (Pg-C-EE) was prepared, and LPS-activated macrophages and HEK293 cells transfected with inflammation-regulatory proteins were employed to test the anti-inflammatory action of Pg-C-EE.

Chronic dietary ginseng extract administration ameliorates antioxidant and cholinergic systems in the brains of aged mice

Black ginseng has a more potent biological activity than non-steamed ginseng has. We investigated the effects of long-term intake of dietary black ginseng extract (BG) on antioxidant activity in aged mice. We also compared the effects of BG on cognitive deficits with those of white ginseng extract (WG) and red ginseng extract (RG).

C/N/O/S Stable Isotopic and Chemometric Analyses for Determining the Geographical Origin in of Cultivated in Korea

The geographical origin of Panax ginseng Meyer, a valuable medicinal plant, is important to both ginseng producers and consumers in the context of economic profit and human health benefits. We, therefore, aimed to discriminate between the cultivation regions of ginseng using the stable isotope ratios of C, N, O, and S, which are abundant bio-elements in living organisms.

Ginsenosides from Korean Red Ginseng ameliorate lung inflammatory responses: Inhibition of the MAPKs/NF-κB/c-Fos pathways

Korean Red Ginseng (steamed and dried white ginseng, Panax ginseng Meyer) is well-known for enhancing vital energy and immune capacity, and inhibiting cancer cell growth. Some clinical studies also demonstrated a therapeutic potential of ginseng extract for treating lung inflammatory disorders. This study was carried out to establish the therapeutic potential of ginseng saponins on the lung inflammatory response.
